Past Presidents

Ronald B. Hughes

After 10 years serving as a radio missionary in Ecuador, Ron Hughes returned to Canada in 1994 to join FBH as the new president/executive director of the ministry.  Ron, a graduate of the Radio and Television Arts program at Ryerson University, immediately began to use his expertise and experience to help bring the ministry into the modern digital age.  With the “world wide web” still in its relative infancy, it was Ron that first saw the value of redeeming this new global technology for the furtherance of the gospel message.  Ron still continued to produce and host the radio program, which by this time was being heard around the world and in many languages, but at the same time developed the ministries first web page, and started to make the programs available online.

In the mid-2000s, with the radio ministry slowing down in Canada, Ron created FBH’s first podcast, “Faith by Hearing.”  In 2015, under Ron’s leadership and vision, FBH launched our online radio station, “HopeStreamRadio”, which would host our podcast as well as thousands of other programs created by FBH and other Christian authors and speakers.  In 2019, Ron retired from FBH and is a sought after preacher in Ontario.

Arnot P. McIntee

Arnot McIntee joined FBH in 1954, and two years later became the host of the program.  Each week, Arnot would open the program, introduce Don Moffatt, and then close with an invitation to trust in Jesus for salvation.  In 1963, when Family Bible Hour was incorporated, Arnot was named as the first president, or executive director, for the ministry.  While Arnot did the majority of the hosting, and a good amount of the messages after 1961, he also did all of the editing for the program, as well as the duplications, and sending tapes to the radio stations and listeners who had requested them.  To help facilitate this work, Arnot had support from many volunteers.

In 1994, Arnot retired from the day-to-day operations of FBH, having completed 40 years of service to the Lord through the ministry.  He would continue for a couple more years on the Board of Directors, helping Ron Hughes become established in the role.  Arnot remained close to the work of FBH until he went to be with the Lord in December of 2021, many of those years spent as a mentor to current FBH president Stephen March.

Donald B. Moffatt

In 1951, Don Moffatt had a desire to reach the people of Newfoundland with a straightforward gospel message, broadcast over the radio.  On October 14, 1951, the first program of the “Newfoundland Gospel Hour” was aired on CJON in St. John’s.  After a year of growing the program, Don had to move to Ontario, to deal with a family health issue.  He brought the program with him, and with the help of some believers from the Toronto area, the program continued, now under the name of Family Bible Hour, and Mr. Moffatt was being heard across the country.

Don remained as the weekly speaker on the Family Bible for 10 years.  Part way through that, He and his family moved to Washington state, and continued recording from there, and sending the tapes to Ontario for editing, duplication and distribution.  In 1961, Don stepped back from the weekly recording, but remained with Family Bible, serving as a member of the Board of Directors for several more years.

Donald B. Moffatt was called home to be with the Lord in 1994.
