Refresh: Workbook
About this WorkbookReading “Refresh” can stimulate your desire to walk more closely with God, but you’ll have to do more than read it to make progress. Drawing closer to God is wonderfully fulfilling in itself, but as you do, you’ll find that there is more to it than having warm feelings and precious thoughts. You’ll encounter spiritual warfare, opportunities to reach out to others, and challenges to make deep personal change. I’ve designed this workbook to promote personal reflection in both individual and group contexts. That’s why there is lots of space included for you to write down your thoughts. Group leaders are encouraged to have group members share as openly and honestly as they are able to. We learn a great deal in community as we work things through together. I’ve also included a short section at the end of each workbook chapters which gives leaders a few suggestions. Even if you are going through this workbook on your own, I recommend that you find a friend with whom you can share what you are learning on a more or less regular basis. This will help to cement key ideas in your mind and potentially provide some accountability as you share your goals and invite your friend to ask questions about your progress. Sometimes in our fear of developing pride, we hesitate to share our spiritual goals with others because we think they’ll get the impression that we’re trying to be “super spiritual” and both they and we know we’re not now, nor likely to be. May I encourage you to be humble enough to make yourself vulnerable as you interact with your friends about your spiritual life. If you have no friends with whom you’d feel comfortable talking about your deepest spiritual needs, battles and progress, consider finding some new friends! One way to find new friends is to join us on-line. I hope to see a community of sincere Jesus followers develop at www.fbhinternational.com/refresh. There we’ll be able to support each other in the struggles and share the joys of learning to be more like the Master. We’ll also be able to enrich our spiritual lives through discussion and debate. Blessings on each one of you. Be refreshed! Ron Hughes |

I truly enjoyed reading Refresh and now I have just gone through the workbook and Wow, pretty powerful! The whole time I was reading through the workbook and book I kept thinking that I love how each chapter and section builds upon the previous in such a concise way. What kept floating through my mind is how I feel when I read 2 Peter 1:5, that the each action listed builds upon the previous one to help build and strengthen our faith - to build so we are not ineffective or unproductive - love this book!!!!!

I much prefer informative articles like this to that high brow literature.

Thanks Ron for a deep challenge to our comfortable Christianity. Your pointed, practical guidelines make it a pleasure to read. I look forward to going through the workbooks, and I hope you're well on your way to getting all this into Spanish!!
